Image: Kaitlyn Gillums conceptualizes the raw human interaction within our natural environment through natural dyeing processes, using fruits, vegetables and plants sourced locally in her hometown of New York City.

Conscious of her generation’s impact on climate, Kaitlyn emphasizes the use of natural fibers such as cotton and silk when sourcing second hand in her community. This process is evident in voluminous gathered silhouettes hand dyed in rich earthy tones and fused with the development of biodegradable food based materials.

Aside from the ways that Kaitlyn thinks about her community when material sourcing, size adjustability and inclusion is another key aspect of her design process. Kaitlyn strives for her items to reflect wearability across the spectrum so that any body that wears can feel comfortable in her pieces.
