Leo Qian

Blooming is a collection that explores the modern romanticism of childhood reminiscence through cultural heritage. The print narrative is a beautiful garden of dancing swallows and fluttering butterflies informed by traditional Chinese motifs and imagery recollected from my youth.
I was inspired by an unseen archive of photographs that documented my early childhood in Harbin, China before my family immigrated to Canada. Reconnecting with these fond memories evoked from the past allowed me to find closure with this distant chapter of my life and reclaim my own identity.
