THRONE

Throne, a thesis on power, in this context power is defined as the ability to persuade one’s audience to do one’s bidding, it is also determined that to attain power one must commit an act of defiance. Power must be taken either by force or by persuasion and seduction. Power and seduction are inextricably linked. Drawing inspiration from figures of power in Africa, Europe, and America. More inspiration is taken from social justice warriors like the black panthers and people with illicit power such as the Italian mob.
Throne brings to light a juxtaposition between Africa pre colonialism and Europe post colonialism, identifying and examining the relationship between the coloniser and the colonised in terms of fashion style dress and how both parties influenced one another. This is an opportunity to write Africa as a continent into fashion history globally. It infinitely highlights that power affects the way in which fashion is used habitually.
